Timothy Prewitt

Timothy Prewitt is an international CEO and board-level executive with over two decades operating at the interface between the commercial and nonprofit sectors, leading global teams to meet ambitious targets for social good. He specializes in working with social enterprises, Fortune 500 companies, and governments, often deploying innovative technologies and financing to reach millions with life-changing solutions. 

From 2012 to 2019, he served as CEO of International Development Enterprises (iDE), a pioneering market-based development organization established in 1983 and working in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. iDE’s social enterprises and market systems have already measurably impacted over 33 million customers with agricultural technologies, water filters, latrines, and drip irrigation kits. Recognition includes Unilever’s Responsible Business Award (2019), Concordia’s Public-Private Partnership Impact Award (2018), Top 50 Global NGOs (2017), and the inaugural Nestlé Shared Value Prize. 

Timothy has lived and worked in China, Romania, Nigeria, Kosovo, the UK, and Afghanistan, and has worked short-term in over 30 countries. He is a highly regarded speaker on business in emerging markets and has spoken at the World Economic Forum, Clinton Global Initiative, and World Food Prize. 

Timothy is a Fulbright Fellow and holds an MBA from China-Europe International Business School (CN), and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in Sociology from the New University (USA) and Lancaster University (UK).
