SKILLS-BASED VOLUNTEERING

AI for Impact

Mobilizing artificial intelligence toward our world’s most pressing challenges

AI is a powerful tool, yet its potential to tackle society’s toughest challenges remains largely untapped. Meanwhile, nonprofits are stretched thin and expected to address urgent, complex problems with fewer resources than ever.

The very resource that could transform their impact is AI. The tools, knowledge, and innovation are here—the question is how to build the capacity to use them where they’re needed most.

We’re launching a new multi-company skills-based volunteering initiative that offers companies a way to engage meaningfully as both technology builders and trust builders.

About the Program

AI for Impact is a 6-week, cross-company, virtual skills-based volunteering initiative.

Approximately 15–20 employees from multiple companies are matched with nonprofits to co-design practical, human-centered AI use cases—demystifying the technology and exploring responsible innovation in real-world community contexts.

Program Structure:

  • 2 weeks pre-engagement: orientation, team formation, project scoping
  • 4 weeks live engagement: team collaboration, solution development, stakeholder touchpoints
  • 3–4 hrs/week per participant, fully virtual
  • Some AI knowledge and experience are required

Key Dates:

  • Program Dates: January 20 – February 27, 2026
  • Commit by: December 1, 2025

Ideal Participants

Skilled professionals across:

  • Digital strategy, AI literacy, and data analysis
  • Marketing, communications, and user experience
  • Change management and training
  • IT, cybersecurity, and project management

→ Some AI knowledge and experience is required—along with adaptability, curiosity, and collaboration.

Why Companies Join

This initiative helps companies:

  • Spark new ideas by learning directly from communities about where AI can actually help.

  • Open doors by making AI tools and knowledge available to nonprofits that don’t usually get access.

  • Build real relationships with organizations that are often left out of digital change.

  • Give employees meaningful work through hands-on projects that tackle real challenges.

  • Test safely by trying out AI approaches in real-world settings before taking them to scale.

Sample Project Scopes

  • Training design and readiness assessments
  • Risk frameworks and governance strategies
  • Change management and workforce training plans
  • User experience (UX) guidance and communications plans
  • Implementation strategies for responsible AI adoption

This is a structured, skills-based engagement with scoped deliverables, guided facilitation, and real-world relevance. Teams co-create solutions alongside nonprofits; this is strategic partnership, not casual support.

That’s part of the point. Many organizations need help assessing readiness, identifying potential risks, and building internal capacity before adopting new tools. These projects meet partners where they are.
