Associate Director, Client Success and Sustainability Lead

About This Role

The Right Candidate

The right candidate is a natural leader with significant experience in driving results with clients and teams and a track record of innovating with and influencing diverse stakeholders. You have excelled in client and program management along with proven capabilities in creating processes and efficiencies within teams. You’ll be able to drive account expansion and integrate new programmatic frameworks into teams. You are a self-starter who can easily identify new opportunities and generate interest and excitement around new ideas. Ideally, you will have a solid background in the areas of sustainability and our other programs’ focus areas.

Position Overview

The Associate Director of Client Success is an integral member of Pyxera Global’s Program’s Department and will lead the Client Success Unit. The Client Success Unit is responsible for understanding and meeting client needs and ensuring clients achieve their desired outcomes while working with the Programs Senior Management Team and Business Development department. The unit creates and implements a solid client onboarding process and maps the client success journey, ensuring dynamic relationships and experiences. The team drives account expansion, delivers value to diverse stakeholders, and removes friction in the client experience by collecting feedback and closing feedback loops.

Additionally, this role will partner closely with the with the Associate Director of Program Delivery to ensure that all programmatic management needs are met across all of the organization’s challenge areas and services offerings, specifically in the area of community-centric sustainability.

Primary Responsibilities

Client Success Unit Management – 65%

  • Design and define a successful client journey looks like and build a culture of continuous learning and improvement throughout the client lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with the Program Delivery Unit to ensure teams understand and are quipped to fulfill client contracts.
  • Lead Client Managers to maintain updated records in Salesforce and support department leadership to track revenue projections against stated goals.  ​
  • Create and set clear expectations and standardized practices for Client Managers; coach them to build strong relationships and provide excellent customer service to all clients.
  • Facilitate regular Client Manager meetings and provide leadership oversight support on client accounts.

Business Development – 20%

  • In collaboration with the Director of Programs, identify ways to integrate the cross-selling and design of integrated projects with current and potential clients​.
  • Expand work with current clients and contribute to the department’s business development process with potential new clients​.
  • Work with the Business Development team to maintain and improve pitch decks and other materials for use in business development​ and account growth.
  • Support account growth by working closely with the Director of Programs and Business Development team to develop new program models and provide proposal input as needed.

Sustainability Program Design – 15%

  • Lead program design clinics and support client managers with creative program design efforts in support of sustainability programs and projects.
  • In collaboration with the Associate Director of Program Delivery and Systems and Learning, provide training and mentoring on sustainability to department staff.
  • Provide thought leadership in sustainability, represent the organization publicly and be a leading voice in developing and delivering impactful programming.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent U.S. employment authorization required
  • A valid passport and ability to travel internationally and/or domestically up to 10%
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 10 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least a combination of 5-7 years of experience working with cross-cultural teams in the areas of sustainability agricultural, skills-based volunteering and community development
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive project management experience
  • Knowledge of the factors driving corporate social impact initiatives and a high level of comfort communicating with corporate and public sector leaders
  • Ability to develop and maintain key client relationships
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a talent for building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and clients
  • Proven ability to innovate, design and adapt programmatic approaches to respond to evolving community needs and global trends.
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively across diverse cultural contexts, promoting inclusive practices and equitable outcomes.
  • Familiarity with integrating technology solutions and digital tools to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and scale of impact.
  • Ideally a professional background in both non-profit and professional services.
  • This is a DC based position and candidates must reside in the Washington, D.C. area (D.C., Maryland and Virginia) and commit to being in-person in our Washington, D.C. office at least twice a week.

Preferred qualifications

  • Knowledge of the factors driving corporate social impact initiatives and a high level of comfort communicating with corporate leaders across different business units.
  • Experience in impact measurement (PowerBI and FormsAssembly), Salesforce, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint highly desired.
  • Proficiency in a language other than English is a plus.
