Clinton Global Initiative Commitment to Action for the Circular Supply Chain Coalition

October 17, 2024 —The Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) has made a Commitment to Action to support the Circular Supply Chain Coalition (CSCC) in implementing local material recovery systems that promote resilient communities.

The Circular Supply Chain Coalition, launched by Pyxera Global in 2024, is working to redesign supply chains by transforming how critical materials are sourced, reused, and reintegrated into the economy. This commitment focuses on scaling practical solutions that regenerate resources, prioritize locally sourced materials, and create jobs in regions most impacted by traditional supply chain practices.

Why the CSCC Matters

Current global supply chains often depend on environmentally damaging practices and produce excessive waste, placing a heavy burden on structurally excluded communities. The CSCC offers a different approach, leveraging local systems like urban mining to recover valuable metals and minerals from discarded products. By shifting to circular methods, the CSCC will help decrease dependence on traditional mining and strengthen local economies by creating new jobs and building resilient systems that better serve people and the planet.

About the Commitment

With primary funding from FedEx and the support of partners like Metabolic, Circularity Consulting, Sustain Our Future Foundation, First Mile, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Circular Electronics Partnership, the CSCC will:

  • Develop sustainable sourcing and recovery systems that reduce the environmental footprint of critical materials.
  • Develop new models for remanufacturing and job creation that offer local communities a stake in the circular economy.
  • Integrate circular practices into broader supply chains, ensuring that social, economic, and environmental benefits are distributed more equitably.

Redefining Supply Chain Practices

For Pyxera Global and our partners, receiving this CGI commitment solidifies our leadership in rethinking how we can structure supply chains to deliver value beyond profit. It also increases our credibility and visibility within the CGI community, reinforcing our role as a trusted partner for organizations seeking to drive lasting change.

Our Commitment History:

The Circular Supply Chain Coalition is one of several initiatives under Pyxera Global’s umbrella dedicated to creating systemic solutions that benefit communities and the environment. Other CGI commitments include:

These commitments align with our vision for a world where equitable and regenerative systems enable all communities to thrive. This year’s commitment to the CSCC builds on that foundation, creating new pathways to transform global supply chains and ensuring local communities can lead and benefit from this transition.
